 It is with a heavy heart that we tell you of the passing of our dear friend and Board President, Ray Parks, at Hospice of the Golden Isles this evening at 10:51 PM. Please keep his family and friends in your prayers.

Raymond C. Parks, Jr., 73, of St. Marys passed away Thursday, June 22, 2017 at Hospice of the Golden Isles in Brunswick.

Born February 19, 1944 in Hutchinson, KS, he was the son of the late Raymond C. Parks, Sr., and Helen Louise Parks. Survivors include his wife, Cynthia Parks of St. Marys; son, Michael C. Parks and wife Marty; daughters, Mhairi Harrison, Elizabeth McCullock, Jackie Mason, and Amanda Witt; brothers, Larry Parks and James Parks; Godson, David McNeil, nephew, William McNeil and wife Wendy.

Ray was a career Navy man from 1962 to 1989, retiring as a CW-4. Upon his retirement he went to work for Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab that same year. Ray lived his life his way, and was a loving and caring man who loved to have a conversation with just about anyone. He was stubborn when it came to doctors. He loved the sea and to the sea he will return. He will be missed by all.

A Celebration of Ray’s Life will be held Saturday, July 1, 2017 at Allison Memorial Chapel in St. Marys at 11:00 am, with visitation to follow. Allison Memorial Chapel and Funeral Home of St. Marys is in charge of arrangements.
